We Have Moved! We have moved to the Diamondhead building in the Hoover Court Shopping Center, behind Wells Fargo in the white office building. It is on the far left of the same shopping center as the Jefferson County Revenue Office. We have a 4th treatment room, a larger couple's room, and a bathroom off reception. Clients will also find that they have more privacy as the rooms open onto an interior hallway separate from reception. I've also purchased two spa tables for the comfort of those who cannot comfortably lie flat on their backs. For prenatal clients, this allows us to work your neck and shoulders better while you recline. We Have a Wait List! Our booking service includes a wait list. If we are booked for the time you would like. You can specify what therapist, date and time period you would like to be wait listed for. If we have an opening come up, we will call and/or email that we have an opening and the first to respond will get the spot. Check out our Comfort Craft tables! We have 2 Comfort Craft Model 800 Mid-Split Electric tables. The mid-split means that the table can bend up to a 40° angle, which aids to open the back (9°) or with a steeper angle can be used to assist in stretching. This is the table under all our padding and sheets in 2 of our 4 rooms. |
AROMATHERAPY
While we do not offer Aromatherapy as part of our service, I'm a big believer in it. Since I gathered a lot of notes, I decided I might as well make it available to my clients. AROMATHERAPY: What it is and what it is not. Plants have evolved alongside humans. Just as we have evolved chemical defenses to protect and repair our bodies, so plants have developed chemicals with comparable functions. Plant essential oils share common chemical composition and protein like structures that make them easily absorbable by our bodies, thus the chemicals that protect the plant will also protect us. Looking at the list of uses for essential oils, one may be tempted to see it as the proverbial “snake oil miracle elixir” sold by charlatans in the past. Consider that any one essential oil can consist of hundreds of different chemical compounds. While modern medicine will identify a particular chemical compound in the oil that provides a desired effect and will chemically recreate only that chemical, an essential oil contains the entire chemical composition, thus every function of the plant is present. Plants absorb energy, water, and nutrients; transform nutrients into energy; repair themselves; repel insects; grow; expel waste; etc. Is it so surprising that their essential oils can do many things as well? Not every essential oil is created equal; they have different chemical compounds with different concentrations. So, you may wonder why doctors don’t prescribe essential oils. Doctors are not taught about essential oils as part of their medical education. Because essential oils cannot be patented, pharmaceutical companies have no financial motive for studying the effectiveness of essential oils. Without studies, there is no “proof” of the effectiveness of essential oils. Thankfully, the number of serious studies conducted as to the chemical composition and effectiveness of essential oils is increasing and they are being taken much more seriously as a complementary method used in addition to conventional western medicine.
