Farewell Patrick

Sadly, Patrick was lured away by a previous employer and has returned to his previous profession. I can’t blame them for wanting him back. We wish you luck Patrick and will miss you. Don’t be a stranger and come back when you need to trade massages.

I am looking for someone to replace Patrick and for someone who can fill in now and then when needed. Please email your resume or a short paragraph telling me something about your experience. See for information about what to expect if you work for Stellar Massage.

New Services (Facials and Dermabrasion) & INTRODUCTORY SPECIALS

Due to repeated suggestions by clients I have decided to begin offering facials. I’ve also decided to offer dermabrasion because I have rosacia and need it myself. We will continue to focus on therapeutic massage, but from 5pm to 10pm 7 days a week we will be offering facials and dermabrasion. Master Esthetician Patty Chandler has joined our team and will begin offering aesthetic services beginning Friday 10/17/14.

I am happy to announce that we are now offering Facials and Diamond Dermabrasion.
30 Minute Facial: Get a Free Eye Treatment or $5 off
60 Minute Facial: Get Free Eyebrow Shaping and Waxing or $15 off
Diamond Dermabrasion: Get a Free 15 Minute Photon Treatment or $15 off
Always get $10 off when you combine one with a massage

Cranial-Sacral Therapy

I just finished taking a class in Cranial-Sacral Therapy. I have to admit I was skeptical about how effective a treatment that uses such a light touch could be, but after having the techniques practiced on me for 4 days I am a believer.

“Intense” treatment is considered twice a week. Normally sessions run from 30 minutes to 2 hours, with 1 hour being normal, so usually one would only receive 2 (at the most 4) hours of Cranial-Sacral Therapy in a week. I estimate that over those 4 days I received about 7 hours. On the last day while my partner was practicing her 10-Step Protocol on me I experienced a dramatic release. I felt a jerk in my abdominal area that was strong enough to shake my body. I’ve had 4 surgical procedures in the lower abdominal area and 2 were of a type to produce a lot of scar tissue. The way it felt, I imagined a rubber band snapping. My back ached that day and hurt fairly intensely the next day as it adjusted to the change in tensions. I do not know for certain exactly what that release was, but I am certainly a believer that Cranial-Sacral Therapy can have a strong effect on the body despite the gentleness of the touch.

I will be posting additional entries about Cranial-Sacral Therapy. The next one (or three) will be an easy to understand explanation of what the Cranial-Sacral System is and how it works, some ailments such as Migraines and TMJ Dysfunction that imbalances can cause, and how Cranial-Sacral Therapy helps.

Although the training I went through qualifies me to perform CST on clients, I won’t put it on my service menu until I’ve practiced enough to feel proficient. I also want to get feedback from the people I practice on to feel that I’m actually being effective.

New Therapists Coming Aboard

Some major personnel changes. Hopefully the last for a while. Kelly has cut back to part time and LeAnne is moving to Montgomery, AND I have just hired two new therapists.

Linda has been practicing since 1986 and is amazing. I say practicing because she has been doing so before licensing was around. She begins on Monday and will be available a full shift on Mon, Tues, Fri, and Sat.

Meredith has only recently been licensed, but she has a wonderful touch. I wouldn’t hire anyone I wouldn’t pay $70 to give me a massage, and I’m comfortable putting the reputation of Stellar Massage literally in her hands. I really look forward to watching her develop into the awesome therapist I know she will become. She will be available a full shift every day except Mon & Tues.

I will be posting a face pic and a biography for them on our website’s about page once they get it to me as well as our new schedules. I hope you all are as excited about this as I am.

Cranial Sacral Therapy

I just signed up for continuing education for Cranial Sacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute for August. I’m very very excited.

Also, just to point it out, one of the benefits of being a club member is that after I’ve practiced on friends enough to feel somewhat confident, I offer an add on to club massages for free if they allow me to practice on them and they give me feedback. I don’t even have to be their therapist, we can arrange the time for me to come in at the end of their massage for the free CST session.

I copied this from the Upledger Institute’s Website

CST was pioneered and developed by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger following extensive scientific studies from 1975 to 1983 at Michigan State University, where he served as a clinical researcher and Professor of Biomechanics.

CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system – comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.

By complementing the body’s natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction, including:

Migraine Headaches
Chronic Neck and Back Pain
Motor-Coordination Impairments
Central Nervous System Disorders
Orthopedic Problems
Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
Infantile Disorders
Learning Disabilities
Chronic Fatigue
Emotional Difficulties
Stress and Tension-Related Problems
Fibromyalgia and other Connective-Tissue Disorders
Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
Neurovascular or Immune Disorders
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Post-Surgical Dysfunction

Back on my blog

My blog stopped working almost a year ago. I do my own website despite having no training, so it sat with me unable to approve posts or make any myself for all this time. I finally decided to tackle it (about a month ago) and after a few failed attempts to fix it, I decided to delete the blog and start from scratch. Surprisingly, when I customized the template and looked at it online, my previous posts and information were there! I did a little dance and realized that the database was beyond my reach, so when I just threw up my hands and deleted the entire blog, it left the previous posts safe in the database. For some reason it won’t let me upload a file to replace the header picture, but at this point I’m just happy it’s working.

If any of you are looking for a good server, I can’t recommend enthusiastically enough. I have had an account with them since deciding to begin an e-store as a hobby in 2005. I had just purchased Dreamweaver, but knew absolutely nothing about building a website and they helped me build a fairly large internet store with options and sizes. I used ECommerce Templates, and when things wouldn’t work, the techs at ServeLink would look at my code and help. When I wanted a contact page, they sent me sample code to customize. Considering I don’t pay them for web development services, troubleshooting, or anything other than hosting my site and registering my domains, I am eternally grateful for their help.
