NEWS:


Client COVID-19 Precautions



A) You cannot wait in the reception area. You must wait in your car until called by your therapist. Please be waiting in the parking lot at least 5 minutes prior to your appointment time.

B) If you have a face mask, please take it with you to your appointment as you will be asked to wear it while on the table and not face down.

C) Do NOT enter the office if you have a fever of 100.4 degrees or more, or if you believe you may have been exposed to the Coronavirus within the last 2 weeks. You will not be charged if you cancel prior to your appointment.

D) When you enter the office, we will take your temperature using a no-contact thermomether, then please proceed directly to the bathroom to wash your hands.

E) Intake and outtake will be done in the treatment room to limit contact with other clients

F) Please pay by credit or debit card if possible.

G) Maintain a 6 foot distance from others, with the exception of your therapist.

H) Since cloth chairs and carpet cannot be properly sanitized between clients, we have paper or towels to put on the chairs and have socks (optional) that you can wear so your bare feet don't have to touch the carpet. We can remove the socks when we massage your feet.

Our COVID-19 Precautions



1) We will not come to work if we have a fever, symptoms or believe we have been exposed to the virus. If we don't come to work, we will try to get another therapist to take your appointment.

2) We will wear face masks when we are within 6 feet of you and wear a clean "smock" for each client. (I interpret this as we can change shirts, not that we have to wear an apron)

3) We have removed the fleece face pillow pads and replaced the cloth covered face pillows with vinyl ones. We have a protective barrior covering the padding on the table that can be sanitized between clients.

4) We will no longer use blankets unless you ask for one, and if you do, it will be clean and washed again before being used for another client.

5) As always, we will use clean linens for each client and wash our hands/arms before and after each massage.

6) We will sanitize (door knobs, pens, light switches, jewelry caddies, bathroom fixtures, credit card terminal, etc.) after each massage.

7) We have ordered UV lights which will be used daily to thoroughly sanitize each treatment room. This will sanitize all surfaces, including the carpet, drapes and chairs.

7) We will not touch your face. Exception: Becca will continue to offer TMJ work because she always wears gloves when she is doing it. She will also wear a face mask if she can find any.

Oncology Massage:

Oncology Massage is massage that is customized for the unique needs of someone receiving treatment, or who has received treatment for cancer. Damage to the lymphatic system, effects from chemotherapy and radiation treatment, ports, medical devises... all need specific adjustments made to the massage even decades after treatment.. I have received the special training to make the adjustments needed and now offer Oncology Massage. You must fill out the "Oncology Client Health Form" and return it a few days prior to your first massage.

We Have Moved!


We have moved to the Diamondhead building in the Hoover Court Shopping Center, behind Wells Fargo in the white office building. It is on the far left of the same shopping center as the Jefferson County Revenue Office.

We have a 4th treatment room, a larger couple's room, and a bathroom off reception. Clients will also find that they have more privacy as the rooms open onto an interior hallway separate from reception.

I've also purchased two spa tables for the comfort of those who cannot comfortably lie flat on their backs. For prenatal clients, this allows us to work your neck and shoulders better while you recline.

We have 2 Comfort Craft Model 800 Mid-Split Electric tables. The mid-split means that the table can bend up to a 40 angle, which aids to open the back (9) or with a steeper angle can be used to assist in stretching. This is the table under all our padding and sheets in 2 of our 4 rooms.

MY CUSTOMER SERVICE PHILOSOPHY


I believe in treating my clients the way I want to be treated. This simple concept has molded every aspect of Stellar Massage from the customization of each massage, to the equipment used, to the toilet paper in the bathroom. While no single point I make below makes me stand out, I believe the sum of them is what has led to my success.

If you are paying for a one hour massage, you want to receive a one hour massage. Stuck in traffic and running a couple minutes late? Don't stress. If it's only a few minutes we won't cut your massage short (but please do call and let us know you are running late). We schedule 15 minutes between massages for the client to allow for intake, undressing, dressing, payment, and those few minutes you might run late. We also schedule 15 minutes for the therapist to reset the room, write session notes, rotate laundry, return phone calls, and take a break.

Ever go get a massage and walk out disappointed because you told them your shoulders hurt and asked for a deep tissue massage and left feeling like you received the therapist's routine massage that didn't do anything to help your shoulders? During your intake we will talk to you (AND listen) about where you are hurting, what your massage experience is, and what kind of massage you want or need. We don't do a "one size fits all" massage. Each massage is customized per our evaluation and adjusted during the massage in response to what we feel and your feedback. Also, we do not charge extra for deep tissue massage. If you asked for a relaxation massage and I find a painful knot, I am not going to offer to work on it for an extra $10. Therapists have a point about charging more for deep tissue massage because it's harder on our hands, but it isn't something I do. Another point relating to the quality of your massage; I will not hire anyone that I would not pay $70 for a one hour massage.

Not everyone has the time, or can afford, to get massage as often as they need to in order to fix a chronic problem that has been building for months or years. Coming once a month is considered maintenance (if your life is stressful enough, once a week is maintenance). People leave our office and go back to whatever is causing their pain. When they come back a month later, they've lost any headway we've made. If you want to fix a problem, you need to come in more often and/or make a change in your habits, or do something at home to keep from regressing. If you are getting a deep tissue massage, we ask questions, suggest what can be contributing to your problem, and recommend things you can do at home to help yourself. I want you to feel better, and if I can do that by helping you help yourself, then I've succeeded.

I hate having people impose their sales pitches on me. While I sometimes get enthusiastic about how beneficial the backnobber2 is as a self help tool, or about the Stellar Massage Club having no contract, only discounts, my purpose is not to sell you anything. I stock a few self help items because some people hate ordering on-line or want it now, but I always tell people they can get the backobber2 cheaper on Amazon or Ebay. I stock a few gift items for people who want to give something with the gift certificate they buy, but it is for the client's convenience, it isn't how I make money.

I think the Stellar Massage Club deserves its own paragraph. I couldn't tell you the number of people who told me they wanted to get regular massage but couldn't afford it or find the time. Many said they tried "the other place's club" only to feel trapped because the therapist they liked was never available, or the quality of the massage went down, or they couldn't get an appointment, and then when their contract finally expired and they cancelled, they couldn't use their banked massages. The purpose of our club is to make it easier for you to get regular massage, not to trap you into a contract. If you've already paid for your massage you are more likely to take the time to get it, and of course the discount makes it a little more affordable, AND you can cancel at any time. Other good things about our club are that if you cancel you can still use banked massages, you can share your massages with other members of your household or a named special someone who doesn't live with you at no additional charge, and you can pause and restart your membership if needed. This is the club I would want to belong to.

Each room has a robe in case you need to go to the bath room during your massage. There is also a mirror and a basket of travel sized toiletries in case you realize that you just ate lunch and your breath smells like onion, need to remove and reapply your makeup, a brush and comb and hair ties and hair clips. A disinfectant jar for the brush/comb and hair clips. One last point. What's with charging extra for something that has negligible cost and requires no extra time to prep or clean? We don't charge for a few drops of essential oil that only cost a few cents (there are a couple oils that we do charge for because they cost more than gold). We also don't charge for using hot or cold packs that just go back in the freezer or hydrocollator. I understand charging for something that enhances your experience; but the way I see it, you paid for your hour and I'm not going to charge you extra for something I do during that time that doesn't cost me either money or effort. Now, if I'm going to have to do extra prep and laundry, I'm going to charge, so we do charge for the Stellar Upgrade because we have to prep the towels, clean the stones, and do more laundry.

I love performing massage, and I believe that by following the Golden Rule, success will follow. I've just been doing what I love. It wasn't my goal to go from one room and therapist, to two, then to three, but I've been blessed and I'm following where it leads me, and it has led me to a nice storefront and a fourth therapist.
